Jeremy Adelman is the Henry Charles Lea Professor of History and Director of the Global History Lab at Princeton University. After graduating from the University of Toronto, he earned a master’s degree in economic history at the London School of Economics (1985) and completed a doctorate in modern history at Oxford University (1989). He has authored several books such as Frontier Development: Land, Labour, and Capital on the Wheatlands of Argentina and Canada (1994), Republic of Capital: Buenos Aires and the Legal Transformation of the Atlantic World (1999), which won the American Historical Association’s Atlantic History Prize, Sovereignty and Revolution in the Iberian Atlantic (2006), and Worldly Philosopher: The Odyssey of Albert O. Hirschman (2013).

Professor Adelman is also the editor of five books and coauthor, with colleagues in the Princeton History Department and elsewhere, of Worlds Together, Worlds Apart (4th edition, 2014). He has been the recipient of the Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship and the ACLS Frederick Burkhardt Fellowship, as well as recognitions for his pioneering teaching at Princeton. Marcia Schenck is a professor of Global History at the University of Potsdam and a visiting scholar at Princeton University. She received a Ph.D. in history at Princeton University in September 2017 and holds an M.Sc. in African Studies from the University of Oxford. She is also a Fellow of the Historisches Kolleg for the academic year 2022-23.

Her research focuses on the nexus between migration, labor, and development between Africa and the world. Her research interests include the history of migration, labor, education, and development, oral history, African and global history, and the history of international organizations. Her articles have appeared in Africa, African Economic History, Labor History, Stichproben, and Atelier. She has previously worked for International Organization for Migration, the International Labor Organization, the German Foreign Service, and the German development cooperation (GIZ) in Argentina, Indonesia, Germany, and Switzerland.
