It covers both the substantive protections afforded investors under treaties and customary international law and the settlement of investor state disputes and, more particularly, investor state arbitration. This course aims to provide students with in-depth knowledge and critical understanding of key legal and policy issues, highlighting their nexus with human rights and justice. Particular emphasis will be placed on the current initiatives to reform international investment law, aimed at ensuring a proper balance between the protection of foreign investment, human rights, and sustainable development.
