Dr. Groh is a 2013 Stanford Ignite Fellow from Stanford Graduate School of Business and holds a PhD from Aalborg University and the Postgraduate School Microenergy Systems at the TU Berlin where he wrote his doctoral thesis on the role of energy in development processes, energy poverty & technical innovations, with a special focus on Bangladesh. He co-edited two books and multiple journal articles on the topic of decentralized electrification in the Global South. Dr. Groh teaches the social entre- and intrapreneurship practicum via OSUN. In 2014, Dr. Groh is the founder & CEO of the cleantech startup SOLshare. On behalf of SOLshare, he received numerous awards, among them Tech Pioneer ‘18 by the World Economic Forum, Finalist at the Earthshot Prize 2021, and winner of the Zayed Sustainability Prize in 2022. Dr. Groh became an Ashoka Fellow in 2018.

Hector holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Javeriana, in Bogota Colombia and a Masters degree in Public Policy (MPP) from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. His career has been a combination of public sector innovation, individual and social development and leadership. Since 2015 his main purpose has been to build learning communities around leadership in undergraduate, graduate and extension courses at the School of Government at Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, Colombia. He coaches, trains and consults individuals and teams in leadership skills. An active member of the Adaptive Leadership Network, where he facilitates the network’s Educators Support Program. Certified coach and Lego® Serious Play® facilitator. Since 2011 he has been involved in community initiatives in Bogota where he lives with his wife and two kids.

Barry is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Environmental Studies Department at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. He has happily spent over twenty years teaching and training environmental change makers through offering award winning courses; creating high-impact, place-based projects, and developing experiential learning partnerships. His teaching and scholarship are concerned with how natural and cultural forces interact to form our ecosystems, experiences, imaginations, and institutions. Following a joint undergraduate degree in Philosophy and Psychology from Emory University in Psychology and Philosophy and a certificate in Wilderness Management from University of Montana, he earned a M.E.Sc. in Conservation Ecology from Yale’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and a Ph.D. in Environmental History from Yale University.

Caitlin O’Donnell joined the Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) and Open Society University Network (OSUN) after several years working in Admissions and Recruiting for Bard’s Graduate Programs in Sustainability. Caitlin co-founded the Bard MBA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and serves on the College Council for Inclusive Excellence and Staff Mentor Committee, and the newly forming OSUN CEI Leadership Development Committee. In her current role, Caitlin manages the OSUN Civic Engagement Initiative (CEI). Caitlin’s interests lie at the intersection between environmental and social sustainability with a particular focus on developing organization level strategies to reorient existing structures to uplift individuals from all backgrounds and social groups into leadership roles and drawing upon the power of network building and collaboration to equip future leaders to address the world’s most pressing challenges.

Evelina Van Mensel possesses extensive marketing research background of more than 15 years, managing both own business as well as establishing and leading the business of a major global marketing research provider. Evelina has been responsible for running projects for over 50 Fortune 500 clients across the Globe and has extensive experience training hundreds of employees within her line of work. Her teaching expertise areas also include: Marketing Research, Customer Development for Start-ups, Design Thinking for Start-ups, Social Entrepreneurship, Leadership. Ms. Van Mensel holds a Bachelor in Hospitality Management from Portsmouth University, as well as Executive MBA degree and Outstanding Academic Achievement Award from the American University in Bulgaria. She is currently a PhD student at VUB – Brussels Free University and UNWE – University of National and World Economy Bulgaria with focus on social entrepreneurship. Evelina also teaches Marketing Research, Entrepreneurship and the OSUN led Social Entrepreneurship course at the American University in Bulgaria.

Aurora is a faculty member at the Bard MBA In Sustainability and is the Director of the Office of Sustainability at Stanford University. She has spent nearly twenty years launching and leading organizational change efforts in higher education and offering professional development to sustainability leaders. Previously she founded new sustainability programs at the University of California Santa Cruz and the 10-campus University of Hawaii system, and built an award-winning Office of Sustainability and carbon pricing program for Swarthmore College. was recognized as a National Rising Star of Energy Efficiency in 2015 from the Alliance to Save Energy. She is a national convener for the Council on the Uncertain Human Future and a Senior Fellow for the Environmental Leadership Program. Aurora holds a B.A. (Agriculture, Ecology, & Political Economy), from The University of California Santa Cruz and an M.B.A. from Duke University Fuqua School of Business.
