THEORY AND PRACTICE OF TEACHING

Fall 2022

COURSE

DESCRIPTION

In Theory and Practice of Teaching (Humanities), literature/ELA and history MAT teacher candidates consider how the theory and content of their disciplines can be translated into the practice of teaching in secondary English, literature, and social studies classroom. Teacher-candidates develop a repertoire of approaches to teaching English or social studies that is inclusive of all students and their needs. They also workshop “problems of practice” from their own classrooms. The course takes a “modular” approach, with modules on reading, writing, and speaking in the disciplines led by OSUN network MAT faculty.
